Google searches for “Who is Chris Soules?” skyrocketed after media outlets reported that a man with this name had been arrested in connection with a fatal traffic accident that killed a 66-year-old farmer.
“In the span of a few hours, we noticed hundreds of thousands of queries seeking information about this individual and who he was,” Google engineer Sahil Agrawal told Daily Bamboo. “While we didn’t have any search results for these queries, we managed to identify the individual and manually updated our search results.”
As it turns out, Soules was the star of the nineteenth season of the The Bachelor, an ABC reality television show in which one man pretends to be interested in finding love and marriage but really just wants to date dozens of women simultaneously in exotic locations that have pools. At the end of the season, the star selects two women to join him for a trial romp in the hay in a luxurious “fantasy suite.”
Building on his Bachelor stardom, Soules later appeared on the reality competition show, Worst Cooks in America: Celebrity Edition. He was reportedly seen purchasing alcohol prior to the crash that killed his family friend and could face years in a different kind of fantasy suite if tried and convicted of a felony.
